"Shaken'
But Not
Stirred"

What an exciting week! October 15th, 7:08am, 6.6 earthquake hits Big Island and Maui, affects felt as far as Honolulu. As I lay on my bed, eyes glazed wishing for more sleep...I was shakin' out of bed from my swaying ceiling fan and convulsing windows. I ran for the door frame and held on for the experience. Grand times in deed. A second quake hit minutes after causing more door frame hugging on my part. Funny how the mind and body go blank at first with confusion as to why the earth underneath is moving. Exciting and yet scary at the same time. Definitely makes one realize how small they are and how big God is! Alas the shaking has stopped, power is back on and flooding has stopped. Some of my students are still experiencing some emotional trauma, worried another will hit. I had many notes asking to NOT speak of the earthquake days after due to nightmares and crying from certain students. Scary for the little ones especially. Typhoons, blizzards, earthquakes, centipedes, splinters, hang nails...what's next?!!

This Tuesday Nacho Libre comes out on video! How excited I am in deed. Tight like spandex it is, it is! We shall be having a little viewing Wednesday night hopefully with laughter and smiles aplenty. I begin work at the bookstore this Wednesday as well which shall add some excitement...shall be fun working with adults from time to time. Kids are great don't get me wrong...but sometimes the soul craves more adult conversation throughout the day. I have one boy in my class that is testing me to say the least. Found myself yelling TWICE last week! I don't yell!!!!! I need prayer and restraints of some kind before I do some serious damage :)

Reading a great book..."The Deity Formerly Known as God". Another reason I look forward to my bookstore experience...30% off! Had CPR training last night which allowed me to practice my chest thrusts and my pucker-ability. Hopefully I'll never have to put such training into practice. Had me a fine and delish falafel sandwich at Cafe Mambo which left me craving more from their vegetarian enhanced menu. Gotta love Paia restaurants! Power to the veggie hearted :) AND looking forward to some fine company both in November and February. Grand times a'comin.

Well, it's official...I'm two shy of thirty!! I turned 28 years old this weekend and had myself some lovely times frolicking about to and fro. I was able to gaze upon a mullet enhanced Ben Stiller, take part in a present unwrapping party via phone line with my amazing parents, devour some delish veggies and fish tacos, enjoy some Kihea generosity, ooh and awe after being surprised by a sweet and delightful SURPRISE party thrown by my third graders and parentals with pin-the-tail on the doggy AND a birthday cake in tow, fill in my grade book with all A's for my sweet and delightful third graders, learn first aid techniques using simple bubble wrap when one's foot accidentally makes its way into a George Forman grill (If my years don't make me smarter, "The Office" will!), and enjoy some darn fine company that spoiled me completely for my special day :)

Huh?

What a grand weekend in deed! Sadly I must now wait for another year to pass before I may celebrate another. I am so blessed and each year God continues to show me his generosity and grace...and I know I don't deserve it! He has given me a family like no other and has now blessed me with yet another...Maui style :) Thanks everybody for making my day so GRAND :)
